Spokesman Review News Article On Spokane Diving

Davis Lake

Head north of Spokane toward New Port on HWY 2, take the Cusick turn left (HWY 211) to the far north side of Davis Lake and park at the public boat launch. Parking is free and right against the shoreline for easy entrance and exit.

Davis Lake is quiet and beautiful. Underwater to the left is a ledge that parallels the shore, and you can dive it at any depth from 10’ to 80’. Head straight out to hit over 100’.  There are some fish, some submerged trees, rocks and boulders. What I like to do is circle around in the shallows by the boat ramp and to the right and hunt crawfish. There are tons of them here, and on Aug. 16th we’ll all catch a mess of them and cook them up on the beach with some corn on the cob. Yumm!!! There is no fishing license needed and we can each catch up to 5 pounds. I must admit, last year I consumed a few dozen of these freshwater mudbugs and they are delicious. Or for those weak of spirit, have a hot dog.
